When do gas prices change in New Brunswick?
Every Thursday at 12:01 a.m. The NB Energy and Utilities Board sets new maximum prices each week, effective Thursday morning — so Wednesday night is when to fill up if an increase is coming. The Board can also trigger an unscheduled mid-week change (an “interrupter”) when world markets move sharply, which happens a handful of times a year.
Why is the price the same at most Fredericton stations?
New Brunswick regulates a maximum price, not a fixed price — but in practice most stations price at or a fraction under the cap, so pumps across Fredericton tend to match. The exceptions are membership and discount retailers, which often sit a few cents below the maximum. That is why the number above is the useful one: it is what the pump will say almost everywhere.
Will gas prices go up or down this week?
The weekly setting tracks the New York Harbor wholesale price plus fixed margins and taxes, so the direction usually follows how oil markets moved through the week. The new maximum appears here and on the NBEUB site as of 12:01 a.m. Thursday; this page rechecks the official table every hour, so whatever is shown above is current.
